Creams for Lupus Skin Disease
•The most commonly used topicals are steroid creams or gels
•Sometimes steroids are injected into the skin
•Other types of creams used are tacrolimus ointment (also called Protopic) and pimecrolimus cream (also called Elidel)
•If the rash is severe and does not respond to any of these treatments, your doctor may recommend other treatments (e.g., methotrexate, thalidomide, or dapsone)
