Creams for Lupus Skin Disease
- The most commonly used topicals are steroid creams or gels.
- Sometimes steroids are injected into the skin.
- Other types of creams used are tacrolimus ointment (also called Protopic) and pimecrolimus cream (also called Elidel).
- If the rash is severe and does not respond to any of these treatments, your doctor may recommend other treatments (e.g., methotrexate, thalidomide, or dapsone).
